Hi, I’m Micah, a chill dude who cares a lot about AI safety, U.S. politics, and generally improving the world. I grew up in Middleton, just outside Madison, Wisconsin.
I’m currently at UW–Madison studying econ, spending this summer in Berkeley doing various AI safety work.
Outside of that, I spend time climbing, running, and reading.
AI safety fieldbuilding: figuring out how to grow the pipeline of people working on AI safety, especially the non-technical folks who can organize, communicate, and hold a community together.
UW–Madison, econ: switched from accounting to move through school a little faster and focus on the things that matter to me, like helping other people.
Building AI safety context through BlueDot and CEA, the 80k podcast, tons of Substack, and fun conversations with people in the field.
Also into Sandcastles, Astral Codex Ten, and Bentham’s Bulldog.
Climbing: currently working on V3–V4’s, a few weeks in.
Running: morning runs every other day with friends, 4–6 miles each time.
